Langtang Trek starts from Syaburbesi and ends here as well. It takes around 7 or 8 days to complete this trek. To reach Syabrubesi, you need to ride for 10 hours on a bus from Kathmandu.

The maximum elevation reached in the main Langtang trek is 3870 meters. The best season to trek in the Langtang region is October to May. There are a lot of teahouses along the route for accommodation. You need to pay Rs. 1,000 (around US$ 15) as the national park entry fee.

Day 1: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel
From Syabrubesi (New Syabrubesi), trek northward to a suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi. Turn right at the eastern end of the bridge and walk into Old Syabru. Then pass Doman (1680 meters), Landslide Lodge at 1810 meters where the trail from Thulo Syabru joins. Then climb to Thulo Syabru and then to Bamboo Lodge at an altitude of 1960 meters. Then the trial reaches the suspension bridge over the Langtang Kholat at 2000 meters after passing through the Dangdung Khola (river).

From the north side of the Langtang Khola, the route climbs to Rimche (2400 meteres) and then to Changtang (2470 meters), popularly known as the Lama Hotel.

Day 2: Lama Hotel to Langtang
Take the trail following the Langtang Khola and climbing to Ghora Tabela (2970 meters). Your National Park entry will be checked in Ghora Tabela. From Ghora Tabela, the trail climbs gradually to Langtang village (3430 meters).

Day 3: Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa
It is a morning’s walk from Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa, which is at an altitude of 3870 meters. You could embark on a number of interesting walks from the gompa. You could spend some time here acclimatizing, if you are thinking of continuing your trek to Helambu via the Ganja La pass (5106 meters).

Day 4-8: Langtang Valley and return to Syabrubesi
From Kyanjin Gompa, you can take some interesting walks around. A viewpoint on a glacial moraine at an altitude of 4300 meters gives excellent vies of Lantang Lirung. You can also walk to Yala or to Langshisha Kharka for nice views of the mountains and scenery. You can return to Sybrubesi the same way or return to Kathmandu after joining the Helambu trek at Tarke Gyang via the Ganja La pass at an altitude of 5106 meters. This section takes 5 days to complete and is an section without permanent settlement.

You can take an alternative trekking route from Dhunche, which comes before Syabrubesi on a bus ride from Kathmandu, via Gosainkunda and join the Helambu trek at Tharepati. This alternative route takes five days to complete. Or you can simply take the trek to Gosainkunda from Dhunche, which takes around 4 days. From Tharepati, you can trek down to Pati Bhanjyang to Kathmandu or complete the Helambu circuit trek.
