There is an entry fee of Rs 200 (around US $ 3) and the ticket is dated and valid for one week. If you want to stay longer you need to visit the ‘site office’ to the south of Basantapur Square to get a free visitor pass, which allows you access for as long as your visa is valid.
The Kathmandu Durbar Square was designated a World Heritage Monument in 1979.
