Do not proceed into the sanctuary if there has been heavy rain or snow recently as there will be chances of avalanches. Always check with the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) office in Chhomrong for a report on current trail conditions. There is a significant danger of avalanches between Doban and Machhapuchhare Base Camp.
There is also a danger of theft throughout the trek, especially in Dhampus and Tikedunga. Posting a guard throughout the night with a lighted lantern reduces the chances of theft. If you stay in a hotel lock the door whenever you go out. Do not share a room with a person you do not know.
