Which religious sites are popular in Nepal?

Nepal is a fascinating places with a rich religious history with the influx of buddhism, hinduism infused together. Buddha was born here, in Lumbini. Besides this, millions of hindu devotees travel to Nepal for pilgrimage.

The temples in and around Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square are popular. Pashupatinath is very popular among the Hindus within and outside Nepal. Budhanilkantha in the northern Kathmandu, Changu Narayan in Bhaktapur, Dakshinkali and Gokarna in Kathmandu, Janaki Mandir in Janakpur, Devghat in Chitwan and Manakamana in Gorkha are popular Hindu temples and places.

Swayambhunath and Bodhnath in Kathmandu and Lumbini (birthplace of Gautama Buddha, founder of buddhism) in Kapilbastu are popular especially among the Buddhists. The Hindus also worship at these sites. Muktinath in Mustang is another pilgrimage site visited by both the Hindus and the Buddhists.
